Crashing Death's Gates

On a night in 1960 on Kalanianaole Highway Mit's Aoki's car crashed into a tree.

He saw himself rise and view the accident scene below. Looking down at his body from above he watched as firemen came running from the nearby Wailupe Fire Station.

He was able to telepathically read their minds and he actually heard them tell each other "He's dead".

"No I'm not" Aoki replied. In that instant, he returned to his body.

Obviously his consciousness had separated from his physical body. This experience had huge ramifications for the process of dying.

This experience profoundly affected him and led him to share it with others and eventually broaden his interest in death and dying. He developed a course on Death and Dying which explored the grieving process and the life potential inherent in the dying process.
